From ancient Greek art and inspiration, came the peaceful, fluid Bacchic and fierce, strident Pyrrhic movement that Duncan forged into form and schema, creating the foundational energies of Modern Dance. With broad strokes embodying both the lover and the warrior ethos, she boldly established ground, weight and force, to deepen the sense of body-soul identity, relationship to others and proximity to the world. Courageously fusing these discoveries on power and strength to bolster what is at the heart of art and the core of human desire, she was able to strike an equanimity, encompassing action and contemplation, love and hate, war and peace. Therein, Duncan’s dynamism in dance serves a divine continuity for life into art.

January Winter Study is open to General Students and Candidates in The Certificate Program in Isadora Duncan Studies I: The Training
The Certificate Program I is a professional training program, leading to the Certificate in Isadora Duncan Studies and to the development of new Duncan programs internationally. The Certificate Program trains individuals intensively and professionally for the teaching and performance of the Duncan work. Three aspects of study and practice are emphasized: aesthetic, philosophical and pedagogical. Each aspect is approached experientially through physical embodiment. The program is based on authentic Duncan technique and choreography, while developing a powerful access to students’ own creative resources for moving, teaching and the creation of new works. Workshops culminate in performance before the public where the art of the dance, the confraternity of dancers and the community at large are served.
Duncan’s dances and pedagogy. Open to general students and those enrolled in the Certificate Program in Isadora Duncan Studies I: The Training.
To register, please return the two attached registration forms to the IDII via mail or email.
Room sharing options can be arranged by contacting the Isadora Duncan International Institute.
